Harry Potter Movie Night Party
I couldn’t wait to do this Harry Potter Movie Night Party! My 4-year-old has been obsessed with Harry since she was 2. (That’s a story for another day!) It’s always Harry Potter all day long.
So we are sharing our love of Harry Potter with our easy and over-the-top movie night you can reproduce with your family.
Harry Potter Movie Night Party Menu
This movie night I wanted to focus on making things easy on you! I wanted to definitely do things the fun, easy and free way, just the way I like it! So let’s do this!
Here’s the Basic Idea for a Harry Potter Movie Night Party
- Pick at least 1 recipe to make themed to your Harry Potter Movie Night. Decide whether you want it to be dessert, dinner, drink, or a combo of all three like we did!
- Take a look at my list of Harry Potter Printables to see what extras like decorations or games you want to have to make the night more fun!
- Plan your movie to start at a certain time so you can work your way backwards. I always want my movies to start around 6/6:30 so it ends right at my girls bed time. That means we eat dinner between 5:30/6:00 to be ready for movie night!
- Sit back and have fun!
Ham and Cheese Howlers – Harry Potter Movie Night Party Food
Let’s get started with the dinner! I was very inspired by these posts on Pinterest of Howlers. But I really needed a fun dinner idea instead of (another) dessert.
I chose to do something my kids would actually eat. So I went with a simple ham and cheese filling.
These are made simply with
- premade pie crust
- ham slices (the thick kind)
- brown sugar
- cheese (any kind, but I used a colby jack mix)
- Egg (for an egg wash)
That’s it! If you are looking for something simple this recipe doesn’t get any easier.
I had to find a way to make my face of my Howler that still went along with my theme. So I used a very simple solution. Edible Markers!
They worked PERFECTLY to draw on our Howler faces! Check out the link below to purchase the same ones I use to draw one my faces!

Pumpkin Pasties – Harry Potter Movie Night Party Food
This was perfect for our dessert for movie night. Although this screamed Fall weather food, I did not mind at all. (Yes I’m basic and love my weather and Pumpkin everything!)
This recipe was super simple to follow to create our Pumpkin Pasties and have a wonderful dessert
This dessert is made of
- pumpkin
- spices: cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg
- sugar
- refrigerated pie crust
Again, I feel like a very simple dessert. The hardest part for me was carving Harry’s scar into the top of the pasties!

Golden Snitches – Harry Potter Movie Night Party Food
Golden snitches were a no brainer for our movie night. If you are looking for an easy movie night recipe, look no further.
Most tutorials you will find make this with Ferrero Roche, I made mine with Lindor White Chocolate balls. (My oldest is HIGHLY allergic to hazelnut, and we actually discovered this when she ate a Ferrero Roche and got pretty ill. But thats a story for another day) So there is a big reason I opted to find another way to make these golden snitches easy to make.
I purchased these ones right here from Amazon:
I also used these printables from Party Delights Blog
So if you are like me and looking for an alternative to the
What you will need:
- Lindor White Chocolate Balls
- Glue Dots
- Printable Wings
Follow these simple directions:
- Cut off the candy wrapper ends. Don’t cut too close to the candy, as you might cut off too much of the wrapper, exposing the candy. Leave yourself a little wrapper close to the candy before you cut it. Repeat on the other side
- Put a glue dot on the top of the candy wrapper.
- Place a cut out of the wings on the glue dot. Enjoy!
See, wasn’t that super easy? Let me know what you decided to go with? These or the original Ferrero Roche?
Popcorn Broomsticks – Harry Potter Movie Night Party Snack
I love a snazzy little popcorn holder! These Broomsticks were perfect for our IN-movie snack. And yet another simple movie night snack made easy!
I got this inspiration from Amy Latta Creations – Broomstick Party Favors
We followed all the correct directions from her site, then filled mine up with popcorn for our movie night snack. Seriously, how cute did these turn out?!
Sorting Hats – Harry Potter Movie Night Snack
I think this was my favorite part of our movie night I got this original idea from Partay Like a Cherry, where she used these sorting hats to play a game for a birthday party she threw. Check out the original post here: Partay Like a Cherry – Harry Potter Sorting Hats
Super easy to make because all you need is:
- Sugar Cones
- Chocolate Frosting
- Chocolate Sprinkles
- Cookies (I used Peanut Butter)
- M&M’s (I used peanut butter M&Ms)
As you can see from our video, the family LOVED finding out what house they got placed in. I know your family will have a great time with this too!
Butterbeer – Harry Potter Drink
If you haven’t had Butterbeer, try it now! It’s a Harry Potter staple! Not only that but it’s super easy to make.
There are so many variations out there for Butterbeer flavored treats, I wanted to just stick to the plain on simple original recipe!
Ingredients:
- Cream Soda
- Butterscotch or Carmel Syrup
- Whipped cream
- Pour your cream soda in a glass.
- Add you Butterscotch or Caramel syrup to the soda and stir.
- Top off with your Whipped cream.
- Drizzle the whipped cream with more syrup and enjoy!
