Sleeping Beauty Movie Night Party

Looking for a classic movie to introduce your kids to? This Sleeping Beauty movie night is the most FUN way to introduce your kids to Aurora and Maleficent. This was so easy and a great way fun way to introduce your kids to this Disney classic. Let’s show you what I mean!

Sleeping Beauty Movie Night Menu

Since this movie doesn’t have any food ideas that jumped out at me, I decided to go with a breakfast menu! What is the first thing you want when you wake up from sleeping? Breakfast of course! And since Aurora slept for quite a long time, we planned out a pretty big breakfast for ourselves.

I also thought it would be fun to implement the fairies and their pink and blue fight they have. So we made our dessert and drink, a fun little fight between the pink and blue fairies. It was such a fun twist to implement their color rivalry from the movie!

Breakfast – Sleeping Beauty Movie Night

You all know I LOVE making homemade everything. So here are just a few ideas to have an easy, delicious and very filling breakfast buffet for dinner!

Pancakes

I used this pancake recipe from All Recipes because it really comes out delicious and perfect every time. Homemade pancakes are SO easy to make and tastes 10 times better than a box mix.

Just a note: I cut the recipe in half because the recipe makes a lot! And since we were having a lot of food tonight, I didn’t want too many pancakes. But, feel free to make the whole recipe and have leftovers, they do freeze well!

Scrambled Eggs

While scrambled eggs are super easy and I know I don’t need to tell you how to make them, I DO want to tell you about a special way I make them.

Most people put milk in their eggs, I’m here to tell you not to! Instead, put a splash of water in them. It has completely changed the way I make eggs. They are fluffier and much softer than when I used to put milk in them. If you’re looking for a longer better explanation to bring you over to the dark side, just check out this article here: Why you should put water instead of eggs in your scrambled eggs.

Hashbrowns

Hashbrowns are super easy. Buy a bag of frozen hashbrowns and fry them up in a pan with some oil. My husband likes to make these and he adds salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and some butter to them as they are cooking and let them cook up until they are nicely golden brown!

Last but not least…

Finish out your breakfast meal with some of your favorite sides. Get some bacon and toast made up. You don’t need me to tell you how to fry up some bacon and get some toast made up to round out your huge breakfast buffet. My kids seem to LOVE breakfast foods, so makeup all your favorites and serve up that yumminess for your Sleeping Beauty movie night!

“Pink! No, Blue!” Cupcakes – Sleeping Beauty Movie Night Dessert

I LOVE the way these cupcakes look! They are so yummy too! The pink and blue are a representation of the fight the fairies have in the movie about their choice of color for Aurora’s dress. These cupcakes will definitely put you in the mood for a Sleeping Beauty movie night!

I wanted the cupcakes to also be pink and blue. So I opted for a strawberry cupcake recipe so the cake would be pink and I put them in blue cupcake liners for the added pink and blue colors.

For this recipe, I followed the cupcake recipe but opted to just make a regular buttercream for my topping. So to get the original recipe for the strawberry cupcake, I followed Sally’s Baking Addiction Recipe. For the original recipe, check it out here: Sally’s Baking Addiction – Strawberry Cupcake Recipe

“Pink! No, Blue!” Drink – Sleeping Beauty Movie Night Drink

I thought long and hard about a drink idea for this movie. I came across some really cute ideas but I just couldn’t get out of my head the idea of doing another “Pink, no blue” type of drink. Not only is it pretty but the kids loved it. Let me show you how to make it!

This drink was quite easy. First I made up a pink snow cone-like syrup. The original recipe I got from Tastefully Frugal.

You will need 3 ingredients:

  • a Strawberry Kiwi Kool-aid packet
  • Water
  • Sugar

Boil up your 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar for 3 minutes. Then add in your Kool-aid packet. THAT’S IT!

Due to time constraints on our movie night this week (due to our Disney Vacation!) we were unable to make our craft this week. BUT, this is the craft we were going to make.
