Muppets Movie Night Party
The Muppets have always been a staple in my life. They’ve been around for awhile and needed a well deserved introduction to my girls. I hope this Muppets Movie Night inspires you to introduce your family to it as well!
At the point I am writing this post, we are 9 days out from leaving for Disney World! We will be visiting Hollywood Studios and I have plans to go see the Muppets Show while we are there. I thought it was appropriate for the girls to meet the characters and see the movie before we head to the park. I definitely didn’t want them watching the show and hating it because they had no idea what they were watching. This was the perfect introduction to the Muppets before we go!
My movie night adventures started because I wanted to introduce my girls to a lot of Disney characters before we went on our first trip. Check out my first post here that tells how all about how I got started: How I started my movie nights
The Muppets Movie Night Menu
I went a little crazy with the food but I honestly couldn’t pick! They were all so delicious so I’m glad I didn’t pick just one. I have so much to share with you so let’s get into the how-tos!
Chef’s Swedish Meatballs – The Muppets Movie Night Dinner
I love that Swedish meatballs have a totally different flavor than regular meatballs. There are nutmeg and cloves in the recipe which provides such a different flavor. If you haven’t made Swedish meatballs, do yourself a favor and do it now!
My FAVORITE recipe is actually an Instant pot recipe. If you have an Instant pot and haven’t checked out Rootitoot’s Instant pot recipes, do yourself a favor and go check it out now. They are grandma’s homecooked recipes converted to Instant pot. I have been cooking her recipes for a few years now and every one of them comes out perfect every single time. So naturally, I chose her recipe for my Muppets movie night.
Check out the original recipe here: Rootitoot Swedish Meatball Recipe
You’re going to make your meatballs with ground pork and ground beef. As I said, the difference between Swedish meatballs and Italian meatballs is the spices that go into your meatballs. Nutmeg and cloves are the main ingredients that give me Swedish meatballs their flavor.
You make up your meatballs according to her recipe.
Once they are baked, if you do not have an instant pot, you want to cover and simmer your meatballs in the same sauce on the stove for at least 45 minutes. The recipe is the same from there.
I would most definitely serve this with egg noodles. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much we did!
Animal’s Drumsticks Breadsticks
I really liked this recipe because honestly, they taste just like the recipe says. They came out delicious (even though I couldn’t get them to look like even shaped drumsticks)
This recipe came from Handle the Heat. Check out the original recipe here: Handle the Heat Copycat Olive Garden Breadsticks
These were easy to make. Combine your ingredients, let the recipe rise. Split up the dough into your drumstick shapes and let them rise one more time.
Finally, let them bake and brush with melted butter, garlic powder, and salt and serve!
Rainbow Connection Fruit Kabobs
This was super easy and a great way to get more fruit in my kids. They LOVE fruit so this was an awesome healthy part of the meal for them.
We chose fruits that were all red, orange, yellow, green. and blue and I let my kids string them along on wooden kabob skewers.
They wanted strawberries, mandarin oranges, pineapple, green apples, blueberries, and grapes.
They had fun helping with this part of the meal and it was the first thing that they ate when we sat down to eat!
Kermit’s Green Drink
I knew when looking for a drink for this movie night, I wanted one that was green like Kermit.
I knew enough about some drinks so I created this drink from a few things I already had in my back pocket. So for you this drink recipe, you will need:
- Limeade Drink Packet (I found them at Walmart, and it is a Walmart brand)
- Lemon-Lime soda, like sprite or sierra mist
- Pineapple Juice
Pour your limeade drink packet into your glass.
Fill up half of your glass with sprite, and the other half with pineapple juice. Make sure to mix well before drinking, to mix in the limeade powder.
My girls loved this drink and sucked it down before I could make another one!
The Muppets Movie Ice Cream
I chose to try to make my own strawberry Ice Cream for Miss. Piggy.
To make up for not making my own other flavors, I bought chocolate ice cream and lime sherbet to have for my other two characters.
I needed a way to draw on the faces. This website did not have printables that I could follow to be able to draw out my character’s faces. So I had to create my own.
I found these printable coloring pages and I adjusted the sizes so that they matched an ice cream cone size.
So all I did was print these out and cover them in wax paper.
I melted down only a few wafers of each color and microwaved them for 30 seconds, taking them out to stir. Then I put it back in and microwaved it for 10 to 15 seconds at a time and stirring until all melted.
I used a toothpick to trace the shapes of the ears and eyes on the wax paper. When I was done I placed them in the freezer to harden and to keep them until I was ready to decorate my ice cream.
To decorate the faces, I used the gumballs and the eyeballs, as suggested. I even found the twizzler pull and peel to make Miss. Piggy’s hair. The girls thought they were super cute and fun to eat candy with their ice cream!

The Muppet’s Movie Crafts
Kermit the Frog Paper Plate Craft
I’m sure I’ve told you before but my girls LOVE to paint. They chose this craft because it, of course, involved painting. We substituted the foam eyeballs for cotton balls because it was what we had. And they really enjoyed this. See the original craft design here: Crafts by Amanda – Kermit Paper Plate Craft
Beaker Planter Bottle
I looked at this craft and immediately wanted to make this! It’s so cute and perfect for the kids but I got talked out of it. If you decided to make this one, PLEASE send me pictures! Check out the original directions here: Beaker Planter Bottle

These party hats are super cute to step up a movie night! Make up your favorite character and wear them for a fun and useful craft project! Check out the directions on the craft here: Little Birdie Secrets – Muppets Party Hat Craft
