I was super excited to watch and plan a movie night to Disney’s newest movie! (at the time of writing this) I love Italian food and I can’t wait to show you all the fun we had with these foods and such for Disney’s Luca Movie Night!

This movie being brand new there is NOTHING out there for it! I was excited to create from scratch some great things to match this movie. I can’t wait to show you all the fun! Let’s get to it!

Luca Movie Night Menu

I love Italian food so this movie night was super fun to do with my kids! Let’s get into the recipes!

Trenette al Pesto – Luca Movie Night Recipe

This amazing recipe I got straight from Pixar itself! This movie came out and I was getting ready to plan my menu, when out popped this beautiful recipe straight from the source itself! The Director Enrico Casarosa has his own Liruian reicpe to share with us all and I am so excited to help share it with you too! Let’s get into it!

Because the ingredients are somewhat in grams, I’m going to rewrite them for you here:

Ingredients

  • 1lb of Trenette pasta (or linguine or spaghetti if you can’t find Trenette)
  • 1 large potato
  • 1 cup of green beans
  • 45 leaves of basil
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 pinch of kosher salt
  • 2 TBL Pecorino Romano
  • 2 TBL Parmesan
  • 1/2 cup of olive oil
  • 1/4 cup of pine nuts
  1. Place the Basil, garlic, and salt in a food processor and blend until smooth.
  2. Add in your Pecorino, Parmesan, and Pine Nuts. Blend until smooth.
  3. The amount of olive oil you will add next will depend on the consistency of your pesto. Add in a little olive oil at a time and blend until your pesto reaches the consistency of dense cream. You may not need the whole 1/2 cup of olive oil.
  4. Boil your water for your pasta. Once the water comes to a boil, place your pasta, potato, and green beans in the water and cook according to pasta package directions. When finished cooking, drain.
  5. Place your pesto in the bottom of a serving bowl. Add your pasta, potatoes, and green beans on top of your pesto. Mix until all your pasta is covered in the pesto. Serve immediately.

This pasta recipe fell right into my lap and I’m so glad it did! I hope you like it as much as we did!

Here are some items you may need to recreate this recipe:

Ocean Fish Jello – Luca Movie Night Dessert

I couldn’t decide on desserts and snacks so I went with both! Guilia’s father is a fisherman and Luca takes care of all his family’s fish, so I thought this would be a good addition to our movie night.

This recipe couldn’t be any simpler for us busy parents!

Here’s what you will need for your Ocean Fish Jello:

  • 6oz Box of Blue Raspberry Jello
  • 1 box of Swedish Fish
  • Whipped Cream
  • Swedish Fish Marshmallows
  • cups for serving your dessert

  1. Make your Jello according to box directions. (Boil 2 cups of water, mix for 2 minutes, and pour in 2 cups of cold water)
  2. Pour your Jello into your desired cups you are serving them in, and allow to set in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
  3. Take our your Jello and slice a hole in the top of your Jello. Slide a Swedish fish down into the hole and push down until it is as deep as you want it to be in the ocean. (NOTE: The Swedish fish will dissolve into the Jello if you place the fish in too early and try to refrigerate them again. Only place the fish in the Jello right before serving)
  4. Top off with whipped cream and a Swedish fish marshmallow and serve!

This really is the easiest recipe! Enjoy your Luca Movie Night with this super easy recipe your kids are bound to love!

Here are some items you may need to recreate this recipe:

Gelato – Luca Movie Night Dessert

I was seriously about to make Gelato and then remembered I can get it at the grocery store for just under $5, and that seemed worth it for me!

If you want to make Gelato, there is a great recipe I have used before. It is a Lemon Gelato and is very refreshing. Check it out here: Taste of Home – Lemon Gelato

I found these Gelato’s from Talenti at my local Walmart. They come in a variety of flavors. I opted for the caramel Cookie Crunch and the Sea Salt Caramel because my family is not big on chocolate.

I thought they were delicious and worked perfectly with our theme. In the movie, Luca and Alberto had Gelato when they arrived in town, making this the ideal dessert for this movie night!

Ocean Water – Luca Movie Night Drink

Knowing that Luca and Alberto came from the ocean I wanted to do an ocean drink rather than a traditional Italian drink. Ocean water plays an important part in this movie! If the boys get splashed with water they turn back into sea monsters. So we’re paying homage to that with our drink tonight.

For this recipe you will need:

  • Sprite (or any lemon lime soda)
  • Coconut extract
  • Blue Food Coloring
  • Ice
  • Sugar
  • Water

  1. Mix sugar and water until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add Coconut extract & 2 drops of blue food coloring to glass.
  3. Fill glass to the top with Sprite. Mix and Enjoy!

Luca Crafts and Activities

Luca Activity Packet

My girls had a fun time with this activity packet! They loved creating and coloring their own Vespa. We also love to color so they had a great time coloring the pages from this Luca Activity Packet!

(Due to this movie being so new at the time of writing this, there really are no crafts out there for this movie! As I find them, I will update this list.)
