Stromboli’s Stromboli- Pinocchio Movie Night Recipe
What is a Stromboli you ask? Is there even a difference between a stromboli and a calzone? Is there even a difference? In my research, for this movie night, I have the answer!
According to BonAppetit.com, Strombolis have a few distinct features. If you want to
- Stromboli’s are Rolled, while Calzones are folded.
- They are shaped like an elongated cigar.
- They can also have sauce on the inside while Calzones do not.
If you want to read the differences for yourself, check it out here: Bon Appetit – What are the differences between a Stromboli and a Calzone?
For my calzone, I made it easy on myself and bought premade pizza dough from Walmart. In my store, they have the refrigerated pizza dough all the way in the front of the store with the take-home pizzas.
I like this mix for my stromboli:
- mild italian sausage
- spinach
- mozzarella cheese
- parmesan cheese
Top your stromboli off with an egg wash and you are GOLDEN. (Pun intended) Bake that beauty for 25 minutes and gobble that down!

Blue Fairy Star Rice Krispie Treat Wands – Pinocchio Movie Night Recipe
We’ve all made Rice Krispie Treats! (Find me one person who hasn’t made them! Go ahead, I’ll wait!)
If you haven’t made these and need a great recipe, try this simple one from Sally’s Baking Addiction.
Rice Krispies are simple to make, but I love this recipe with the addition of vanilla and salt are a simple but make a big impact on our treats.

To make your Rice Krispie Treat Stars, You will need:
- 1 bag of mini marshmallows
- 6 TBL of Butter
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- pinch of salt
- blue food coloring
- lollipop sticks
- star shaped cookie cutter
When making these into our star shapes for wands, you have to make these few changes with your recipe
- First, make up your rice krispie treats like normal. Melt your butter in your pan then add in your bag of marshmallows. Turn the heat off and add in your vanilla and your salt.
- Also at this point is where you add in blue food coloring. You want to dye your marshmallow mix blue BEFORE you add in your krispies. Mix your marshmallow mix up until the blue color is all combined.
- Then you want to add in your rice krispies at this point and mix well.
- Pour your rice krispie treats into a greased 9×13 pan and let it sit for about an hour.
- After 1 hour, take a star shaped cookie cutter and start cutting out stars from your rice krispie treats.
- Take a lollipop stick and shove it through the bottom of the star shaped rice krispie
- Set aside and let them set.
As long as you keep these covered, these will last for a few days!

Jiminy Cricket Milkshakes – Pinocchio Movie Night Recipe
When creating a drink for tonight’s movie night, I really wanted to do a Mint flavored drink. Jiminy Crickets is green so I thought that beautiful mint color would go great with this movie night.
While this didn’t exactly come out the minty green color I wanted, it sure was delicious! My family LOVES mint oreo ice cream! So this was a HUGE hit with my family. I hope you love it too!
To make these you will need:
- 4-6 scoops of Mint Oreo Ice Cream
- 1 cup of Milk
- Whipped Cream
- Green Sprinkles
- Optional: Extra Oreos
Directions:
- Grab your blender, and add in your ice cream and milk. Blend until smooth. You can also add in any extra oreos for flavor. (Just be weary, the more oreos you add, the less green your milkshake will become.)
- Pour your milkshake into your desired glass and top off with come whipped cream and green sprinkles for some added flavor and some more green color!

Pinocchio Craft Ideas
Pinocchio Paper Puppet
Pinocchio is a puppet. So I needed a puppet craft naturally for our movie night!
I found this great coloring page and was able to adapt it to make our puppet craft.
What you will need to make this craft:
- Pinocchio Printable
- Card Stock (to print out your page)
- Markers/Crayons
- Paper Fasteners
- Hole Punch
- Scissors
Directions:
- Print out your printable onto card stock.
- Color the page.
3. Cut out your Pinocchio’s body, legs, and arms.
4. Punch holes on the black dots on your Pinocchio arms and legs and body.
5. Take your fasteners to put them through the front of your body and attach the arms and legs to their appropriate spots, and opening the fasteners on the back of your Pinocchio.
Your Pinocchio’s arms and legs will move freely at this point. If you want to truly make him a puppet, you can attach strings to his arms and legs or even attach a popsicle stick to the middle of his body for a more playable puppet!
