Star Wars Movie Night Party

If you have a Star Wars fan in your family, this is the movie night for you! This Star Wars movie night has been a long time coming. I have a huge Star Wars fan in my house and we have been wanting to do a movie night like this for a while. There are SO many Star Wars Movies, I decided to lump each of the 3 series together so for this one we’re doing the original 3 movies. So off we go!

Another big reason we are doing this movie night is that in just one short month we are headed to Disney World to Hollywood Studios to Galaxy’s Edge. My husband is ecstatic and I’m really excited as well. I enjoy the movies but not nearly as much as he does. So we obviously want to introduce our girls to Star Wars before we go. So we started here!

The reason I started these movie nights was that we were headed to Disney World! To read about why I started my movie nights see my Movie Nights Post here

Star Wars Movie Night Menu

We scoured the internet and narrowed down our fun food to Obi-Wan Kabobies, which were chicken kabobs, Seven Leia Dip (Seven-layer dip), Wookie Cookies, Lightsaber pretzel sticks, and Blue Milk.

So let’s get down to business!

Obi-Wan Kabobies – Star Wars Movie Night Dinner

We’re gonna start with our Kabobs! This was a pretty simple dinner recipe. Kabobs can be so many different things, we opted for chicken because it’s very kid-friendly meat.

So I started by cutting up my chicken and marinating it in Italian Wishbone Dressing. I opted for something mild that the kids would enjoy, and I didn’t have to make it on my own. But you can use your favorite marinade on your meat. Put it all in a Ziploc bag and place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

In the meantime, cut up your favorite vegetables/fruit and get it ready to assemble. Cut your veggies big enough to slide onto the kabob stick and set them aside.

Once the meat is ready to go, get all your ingredients out on the counter ready to assemble. Then start putting all of the ingredients on the kabob stick, alternating ingredients as you go, until all your sticks are full, or your ingredients are gone.

Then I placed my kabobs on a baking sheet and used more of the marinade to brush my kabobs and veggies with it.

The day I made this recipe was quite cold, and my grill is put away for the winter, and my kabobs were too big to fry them on the stove. So I opted to bake them instead. So I put them in the over on 400 for 20-30 minutes until done. Doesn’t have that grilled taste, but definitely a good alternative to not having a grill available.

Seven Leia Dip – Star Wars Movie Night Menu

While I had a lot of dessert options for our movie night, I wanted a side dish. I found this one and knew it was perfect!

The seven-layer dip is a great family-friendly recipe. So much so, my daughter looked at me like I was crazy when I told her it was basically a taco in dip form. She reluctantly took a chip, tried this dip and her eyes perked up like she got the surprise of a lifetime. She asked if she could just have this for dinner. To which I laughed but knew she wasn’t kidding.

The seven-layered dip is a pretty easy recipe, but I opted to follow the Spend with Pennies recipe, which came out great. I opted to not include guacamole, because my kids do not like avocado, and I thought they would be more apt to eat if I didn’t. (See, even I made this movie night my own!) It turns out I still have 7 layers! And I was right. Because again, my daughter really liked trying this new recipe, so maybe yours will too!

Wookie Cookies – Star Wars Movie Night Dessert

Everyone knows Han Solo’s best friend is Chewbacca! So Wookie cookies for the win with this movie series.

They seriously are the cutest cookies! I followed the original recipe from Nifty Spoon. It was the perfect recipe for cookies that look just like our furry friend.

This recipe is chocolatey and has a hint of coffee in it, which honestly I think brings out the chocolate flavor. Even a few days later, these cookies stay nice and soft.

I have to say, the only thing I changed in this recipe is I added about 2 Tablespoons of milk at the end of the recipe. I found that the dough didn’t quite come together and seemed a little too dry. The milk did the trick and the dough finally came together for me.

Lightsaber Pretzels

Star wars themed food light sabers

I NEEDED a lightsaber for this movie! It was a requirement. So when I came across some pictures of chocolate-covered pretzels, I knew this is what I needed in my life for this movie night!

So I went to work planning lightsabers. There definitely needed to be a red and green one, to represent the dark side and the Jedi.

I melted down green wafers for 30 seconds in the microwave. Then I took it out and stirred it, and placed it back in the microwave for 15 seconds at a time. I think I did that 3 more times, taking it out to stir in between until it was all melted.

These candy melt boxes I found at the store were a great find because they seriously make my life easier when making chocolate-covered pretzels. Because it’s a long box it allows me to dip it in and cover the entire pretzel.

I then melted down the white wafers and did the same, but this time I rolled the pretzel in red sugar sprinkles.

You can make your pretzel sticks however you want, but these two ways pleased everyone in my family. They’re both fun ways to get your lightsabers to be whatever color you want them to be.

To finish them off, I also melted down some black chocolate and finished off the end of the pretzel stick to make the handle.

Blue Milk – Star Wars Movie Night Recipe

Star Wars Movie Night for Family Movie night idea with Star Wars Party food for May the 4th - Blue Milk Recipe

Blue Milk is a no brainer when it comes to drinks for our Star Wars Movie Night. I tried to make this recipe to taste as close to the one you would get inside the parks and I think I have a winner!

Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of pineapple chunks
  • 1/3 cup pineapple juice
  • 3/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/3 cup rice milk
  • 4 TBL coconut cream
  • 2 cups of ice
  • blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Using the blender, blend the pineapple chunks, pineapple juice, coconut milk, rice milk and coconut cream until smooth.

  2. Add a couple drops of blue food coloring gradually until the desired shade of blue is achieved.

  3. Add the ice and blend until smooth.

Lightsaber Wrapping Paper Roll Craft

star wars craft for kids idea

These lightsaber crafts were completely my own creation. Who doesn’t automatically start fighting with someone when they have an empty wrapping paper tube laying around? This was just plain fun for my kids!

We painted the tubes and wrapped the ends in duct tape. It really was that easy. Even my girly girls liked fighting with them! Watch my video for more detailed information on how to make these.
