Lady and The Tramp Movie Night Party

I honestly believe Lady and the Tramp is one of those classic movies you must watch. I’m so very excited for this movie night because it has been so long since I’ve seen it!

Perfect Valentines Day Movie Night for the Kids

With Valentines Day around the corner, I immediately thought of this Disney movie when prepping a Valentines’ Day movie night.

Just watching Tramp and Lady fall in love puts me in the mood for Valentine’s day. The iconic scene of them being serenaded while eating spaghetti and meatballs at Tony’s Restaurant is just so romantic to me!

So this makes this movie the perfect movie night for Valentines’ Day to have with your kids. They will love seeing the scene come alive in the movie because you made it come alive for them too!

Lady and Tramp Movie Night Menu

Honestly, if I didn’t go with spaghetti and meatballs for this movie, it wouldn’t make sense. It’s one of those times that I’ve talked about in my 5 Tips to Enhance Your Movie Night Post. Sometimes the food just jumps off the screen at you and plays such a huge part in the movie, you just HAVE to do that food for your movie night.

For our other food items are Tramps Dog Bone Breadsticks, La La Lu Starsweeper Drink, and Italian Ice. More about why I chose those items are explained below!

Meatballs

Meatballs for lady and the tramp movie night

I love meatballs! They are one of my favorite things to eat with pasta. I like to make homemade ones, but feel free to buy a bag of frozen meatballs and call it a day!

I know a lot of people are very picky about their meatball and sauce recipes. But I wanted you to know my recipe I use, in case you want to make it easier. I’ve included the recipe at the bottom of the page also!

Ingredients

  • 1lb of ground beef
  • 1lb ground sausage
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cups diced onion
  • 4tsp garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 4 TBL Parsley
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Mix together with hands or spoon.
  • Cover a pan with aluminum foil and spray with a olive oil spray.
  • Roll a ball about 1.5 inches thick and place on pan.
  • Bake uncovered for 10 minutes.
  • Flip the meatballs over so as to brown both sides.
  • Cook for another 10 minutes.

Spaghetti Sauce

This spaghetti sauce recipe is vegetarian and a GREAT way to get the kids to eat more vegetables. If your kids are things like mine, they love spaghetti!

Spaghetti sauce is really easy to make homemade and freeze for the future.

So toss in all your ingredients and let it simmer! Even toss in your meatballs to let the sauce simmer with the meatballs in it. The longer you let it simmer the better the sauce will be. At least 4 hours but do it all day if you have the time.

I tossed in all my veggies diced and shredded because I ended up using my immersion blender at that end before serving to make it saucier. If you do not have an immersion blender, pour it into a regular blender and pulse it up there instead. I love my immersion blender because honestly, it makes it so much easier to not have transferred all that hot sauce to another pot. Just remember to take out the meatballs before you blend your sauce up!!!

If you are interested, here is the immersion blender that I have and I love it. Mine is a few years old and is a little expensive on Amazon now. So any immersion blender will be great for this task!

The recipe and all the ingredients are listed below for a much easier flow of making this recipe.

Dog Bone Breadsticks

Dog bone breadsticks for Lady and the Tramp movie theme night

Every time Tramp goes to Tony’s they give him a bone. So I couldn’t leave out Tramp’s favorite treat!

I bought a bag of refrigerated pre-made pizza dough (I bought mine at Walmart)

I can’t seem to make pizza dough well, maybe I just haven’t found the right recipe. (If you have a good homemade one, let me know down in the comments!) So pre-made pizza dough is what I went with for ease.

I just rolled my dough out flat into (roughly) a rectangle shape. Where I continued to slice them into 12 even(ish) strips using my pizza cutter.

From there I tied each end into a knot, making them look like Tramp’s dog bones!

Then I brushed them with about 3 tablespoons of butter with some minced garlic in it, before putting them in the over on 375 for about 14 minutes, or till they were golden brown.

La La Lu Starsweeper Drink

drink idea for lady and the tramp movie theme night

If you don’t know a lot about Lady and the Tramp, you probably won’t get this reference right away. So let me explain:

I wanted to create a Valentine drink that also went along with the movie. This drink was Pink for a specific reason.

One of my favorite scenes in this movie (besides the iconic spaghetti scene) is when Lady first met Jim Jr in his sweet little bassinette.

Darling then continued to sing that beautiful lullaby to her baby “La La Lu”….Oh, my little star Starsweeper….Here comes a pink cloud for you”

I’m a sucker for a good lullaby. So this was my inspiration for the drink tonight. A Pink Cloud…for you!

If you want to hear the song I’m talking about, check it out: La La Lu Lullabye.

All you need to recreate this drink is:

  • 2-liter bottle of Cherry 7up
  • raspberry sherbet
  • whipped topping
  • fun valentines sprinkles (optional)

Italian Ice

There are a few desserts you could go with for this theme. Since we were already immersed in the Italian feel with the spaghetti, meatballs, and breadsticks, I just stayed Italian-themed.

italian ice for lady and the tramp movie night

We went with Italian Ice because I thought that would be a great dessert my kids would eat. And it was super easy, as you can see from my video.

Get the original recipe here: Food Network: Italian Ice.

I will say my only quaff with this recipe is that it doesn’t tell you that at the very end when the ice is frozen solid and ready to scoop, that it’s not really ready to scoop as the recipe says.

It freezes solid pretty good so you need to let it sit out for 10 minutes to be able to scoop any of it out.

So just keep that in mind when you go to make this recipe.

Other than that, as you can see from my YouTube video, it was super simple to make and it turned out delicious!

Lady and Tramp Movie Night Decor

I wasn’t going to go much in on this movie as the decor was considered but I couldn’t help myself!

table decor for lady and the tramp movie night

The thought of having a table decorated like Lady and the Tramp’s table just sounded too good to be true.

So I found this table cover at Walmart. The roses I had just received for my birthday a few days prior so were the perfect centerpiece for the table. And I had a few large candlesticks in the basement for just this sort of purpose.

Get a similar Gingham Table cloth HERE from Amazon.

So for not much money at all, I achieved a pretty simple and fun-themed table decor for our Lady and Tramp-themed movie night.
